There is a new magazine in town...Siouxland Woman.
Siouxland Woman magazine features local women's stories. It covers beauty, fashion, family, home, career, health and nutrition information all with beautiful photography.
There was only four magazines issued so far. I didn't see the first one, but have been reading and collecting the three I found.
You can get a copy pretty much everywhere. I found them mostly at Hy-Vee since I go there all the time, but have seen them at Rocket Car Wash also. You can also read the latest one online here and check out their Facebook page here.
Local businesses can submit articles, info on page 4 of the magazine. This is a great marketing tool if you are looking for a way to let everyone in Siouxland know about your business.
Get your copy today and get some great insight into what life and career in the Siouxland area is like!

Melony's Creations is the home of Melony Moore's creative side. She is a Stampin' Up! independent demonstrator. Stampin' Up! is a company that specializes in arts & crafts supplies, from paper to stamps to embellishment. It's a haven for crafters and popular in crafting community.
Our goal in SUX HIVE is to make it easy for small businesses and home-based businesses to let their presence known in Siouxland. Being on our Business Spotlight lets you do that in a more personal way. It's only been a couple of weeks since the launched of SUX HIVE and we featured four Business Spotlights during that time. We would like to share some of the results with you.
So, what does it mean to be on a spotlight on SUX HIVE? The stats below were taken from the spotlights on Bling-n-Fashions and Needle Knows by Jennifer Lacek.
Children's Creations is created by Heidi Hamilton and Lauren Rojas. These two ladies used to have their own craft business, but when they met at a craft show in Dakota City, they became fast friends and decided to join forces and start Children's Creations. Heidi has a little boy, Auston, 3. Lauren has two children, Brooke, 3, and Maddox, 3 months. Their husbands are very supportive of their work and even helps them out sometime...when it comes to hardware projects.
Heidi used to run Heidi's Hems. She created outfits for dolls and dogs. She still make these items, but concentrates on doll clothes during the winter mostly. Now, she helps with other children crafts and watching Maddox while Lauren work on her orders. Lauren said that Heidi is so much better at sewing and have taught her a lot of techniques. She is also working on her degree in Forensics and work at a local daycare. She fill orders in between.
Lauren is a care giver and fills her orders in between work and taking care of her young ones. She is very creative when it comes to putting things together and she gets her inspirations everywhere. Everything she looks at, she would think about how she can incorporate that into new items for their shop and make it more affordable for the buyers. For example, on the photo below, Lauren would use the pendants from these necklaces and place it in the middle of the rosettes for another outfit, which she got the inspiration from the outfit on the left.
Oriental Express is the new favorite in town because of it's Filipino food menu. Rose LaCroix opened the place back in May 1st, 2014. The building used to be a Chinese food buffet called Oriental Express. She kept the name and the decor the same and just started serving Chinese and Filipino food.
Needle Knows is a home-based business by Jennifer Lacek. She creates beautiful and quality crochet items like hats, clothing, stuffed animals and almost anything you can think of. She started her business a year and a half ago, April 2013, and she haven't stopped crocheting since then.
Bling-n-Fashions is a small business that keeps up with the latest trends in fashion and brings it to their store. The owner, Dana Wendt, and her two daughters, Jenny Collins and Kristin Paterson, have always loved fashion and wanted to share that passion to everyone.
The company was started five years ago in Moville, Iowa and was recently relocated to the Southern Hills Mall, their shop is next to the theater. October will mark their one-year anniversary at the mall.
